The next RPI Hockey game starts in:

Timer counting down until next game

Dartmouth College

Thompson Arena
Hanover, NH

Tickets

  • Tickets cost $9 and are available online or by phone from the Dartmouth Athletic Ticket Office (603-646-2466) if paid for with a credit card. The arena usually comes close to selling out, so we advise purchasing tickets ahead for best seats.
  • The visitors' sections are sections 3 and 4, on the end and corner, respectively.

Directions

  • From Troy: There are several possible routes to Hanover, none of them very direct. This is the route we prefer, since it involves the least connections and therefore the least chance of taking a wrong turn. Take NY-7 East into Vermont, then continue east on the same road, now called VT-9, all the way across the state until the intersection with I-91, shortly before reaching Brattleboro. Take a left at the light at this intersection to get on I-91 North. *Stay on I-91 to Exit 13. Go right at the light at the end of the off-ramp (east) onto Main Street. Go across the bridge (you are now on W. Wheelock Street) and up the hill. Go through the first light and continue on through campus to the next light at the intersection with NH-120 (South Park Street). Take a right here and continue on to the next traffic light. Take a left at this light to enter the Thompson Arena parking lot. Distance: 145 miles.

Arena

  • Campus map: Thompson Arena is in the lower right corner.
  • Parking: Take a left at the first light after you pass the arena for the large parking lot. There is also a small lot across the street from the arena that fills early but is easier to get out of after the game.
  • Seating: Thompson Arena seats 4,500. The arena is usually quite full, so it may not be possible to change seats. Seats are metal benches with curved backs. Standing on the rail is allowed. The arena can be quite cold.
  • Food: Thompson gets our vote for best variety of arena food. The main concessions have decent mini-pizzas and hot dogs as well as giant brownies and cookies. There are also separate stands for Subway subs, clam chowder and beef stew, and Ben & Jerry's ice cream novelties.

Hotels

  • See http://whiteriverjunctionvt.areaguides.net/hotels.html. (Look for Hanover, Lebanon, or White River Junction in the address.)
  • There are no hotels within easy walking distance of Thompson. The closest is probably the pricey and upscale Hanover Inn, located at the other end of campus. The next closest is the Norwich Inn, just over the bridge in Norwich, Vermont. Beyond that your best choices are in White River Junction.
