Thompson Arena
Hanover, NH

  • Tickets cost $11.25 ($5 for children) and are available online or by phone from the Dartmouth Athletic Ticket Office (603-646-2466). The arena usually comes close to selling out, so we advise purchasing tickets ahead for best seats.
  • The visitor's sections are sections 3 and 4 on the diagram, on the end and corner respectively.

  • If using a GPS, enter 23 Park Street, Hanover, NH.
  • From Troy: There are several possible routes to Hanover, none of them very direct. This is the route we prefer, since it involves the least connections and therefore the least chance of taking a wrong turn. Take NY-7 East into Vermont, then continue east on the same road, now called VT-9, all the way across the state until the intersection with I-91, shortly before reaching Brattleboro. Take a left at the light at this intersection to get on I-91 North. *Stay on I-91 to Exit 13. Go right at the light at the end of the off-ramp (east) onto Main Street. Go across the bridge (you are now on W. Wheelock Street) and up the hill. Go through the first light and continue on through campus to the next light at the intersection with NH-120 (South Park Street). Take a right here and continue on to the next traffic light. Take a left at this light to enter the Thompson Arena parking lot. Distance: 145 miles.
  • From Harvard: Find I-93 North. The Mass Pike (I-90), heading east, leads to I-93 (the Big Dig). Follow I-93 North into New Hampshire. At Exit 11 in New Hampshire, leave I-93 and take I-89 North. Shortly after crossing into Vermont, I-89 intersects I-91. Take I-91 North and pick up the directions above at *. Distance: 125 miles.

  • Campus map: Thompson Arena is in the lower right corner of the map.
  • Parking: Take a left at the first light after you pass the arena for the large parking lot. There is also a small lot across the street from the arena that fills early but is easier to get out of after the game. There is no charge for parking in either lot.
  • Seating: Thompson Arena seats 4,500. The arena is usually quite full, so it may not be possible to change seats. Seats are metal benches with curved backs. Standing on the rail is allowed.
  • Food: Thompson has a good variety of standard arena food along with a few surprises. The main concessions have decent mini-pizzas and hot dogs as well as giant brownies and cookies. There are also separate stands for Subway subs, clam chowder and beef stew, and Ben & Jerry's ice cream novelties.
