RPI's Marsters Nets Goalie of the Week

Two Wins Against Union Earn Him ECAC's Award

Junior goalie Nathan Marsters, who helped RPI to a playoff sweep of Union College last weekend, has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Goaltender of the Week.

Marsters, from Grimsby, Ontario, made 37 saves on 38 shots Friday night in a 2-1 victory. The next night, he stopped 29 of 31 shots, including 13 in the third period, in a 3-2 win.

Both goals Marsters allowed were power-play tallies. He posted a 2-0 record with a 1.50 goals-against average and a 95.7 save percentage as RPI advanced to the second round to face Cornell this weekend.

With those two wins, Marsters has a 7-13-1 record with a 3.39 GAA and an 89.2 save percentage. He has played in 22 games this season, 18 as a starter. In his past three games, all starts, he has a 3-0-0 record with a 1.67 GAA and a 94.9 save percentage.

The winner of this weekend's series will advance to the ECAC semifinals Friday, March 21, at Pepsi Arena.

RPI was 0-2-0 against the Big Red, the second-ranked team in the nation, during the regular season. RPI lost 3-2 on Jan. 18 in Troy and 5-0 on Feb. 21 at Cornell.
