Albany Times Union, March 4, 2002

TROY - A pair of Capital Region natives playing together for RPI finished 1-2 in the ECAC scoring race when the regular hockey season concluded Saturday night.

Cohoes native Marc Cavosie finished first with 30 points (13-17) in 21 league games and teammate Matt Murley of Troy was second with 28 points (14-14) in 20 league games.

Cavosie, a junior, totaled 46 points (21-25) in 31 games overall, also best in the ECAC. Murley, a senior, was also second in the league in overall scoring with 38 points (20-18) in 27 games.

Cavosie, who had an assist Saturday night while extending his scoring streak to 17 games, is ranked third nationally with 1.48 points per game. Murley is fifth at 1.41.

Murley, who was drafted by Pittsburgh in the second round in 1999, is fourth in the nation at 0.74 goals per game. Cavosie, a fourth-round pick by Minnesota in 2000, is fifth at 0.68.

Cavosie is RPI's first ECAC scoring champion since Eric Healey in 1998 and only the school's fourth since 1965 (Joe Juneau, 1990; Adam Oates, 1984).
