RPI Hockey Rewards Best of Past Season

Murley, Poley Selected as Men's, Women's MVPs

TROY - Senior co-captain Matt Murley of Troy has been voted the Most Valuable Player on the RPI hockey team, which made it to the semifinals of the ECAC Tournament this season.

Murley scored 46 points (24 goals, 22 assists) in only 32 games for the Engineers. He led the ECAC in goals with 24, was second in points with 46, and fourth in both assists (22) and power-play goals (8).

On the national level, Murley ranked fifth in points per game (1.44) and sixth in goals per game (0.75).

He was a first-team ECAC All-Star along with teammate Marc Cavosie, the ECAC Player of the Year. Murley was also a second-team All-American.

The voting was conducted among the players and the results were announced at the team's end-of-season banquet.

Other award winners included senior forward Chris Migliore (Most Improved Player), senior defenseman Steve Munn (co-winner of Coaches Award with Murley) and senior defenseman Hamish Cunning (Scholar-Athlete second year in a row.).

RPI finished with a 20-13-4 record (10-9-3 ECAC).

Senior Andrea Poley was voted MVP of the women's team after scoring 36 points (18-18). She was also an ECAC first-team All-Star.

Lauren Smith was named Most Improved Player and senior defenseman Kate Adams, the ECAC Player of the Year, won the Coaches Award for the Engineers (15-11-1, 11-7-0 ECAC).
